This year’s May Day Awards will see 37 organisations recognised for their excellence in improving workers’ lives and livelihoods.

The May Day Awards have been held annually since 1963.

The awards will be presented to the companies at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 25 April 2025.

The individual awardees for 2025 will be announced soon.

Champions of worker advancement and nation-building

May Day Awards 2025 pay tribute to companies making a difference in worker welfare and national development across industries.

Plaque of Commendation awardees who have enhanced career progression rank highly in promoting worker progression.

Despite being a relatively new hospital established in 2019, Sengkang General Hospital quickly teamed up with the Healthcare Services Employees’ Union (HSEU) and NTUC Industry Training and Transformation (IT&T) to implement a non-stock inventory management system aimed at improving job efficiency for 900 nurses. These nurses can focus more on clinical care and professional development with reduced administrative load.

Meanwhile, Partners of the Labour Movement awardees have made strides in supporting workers’ welfare and have stepped up as Labour Movement ambassadors.

Creative Eateries remains committed to serving annual increments and profit-sharing incentives to enhance workers’ pay packages in the competitive food and beverage industry.

The company also sponsors NTUC memberships for its employees, allowing them to access a wide range of benefits and workplace protections. The progressive F&B group also actively hires and re-employs senior workers across its diverse dining establishments, including Siam Kitchen and Suki-Ya.

Other outstanding companies supportive of Labour Movement initiatives are Plaque of Commendation (Gold) awardees, which include Senoko Energy, Leica Instruments (Singapore) Pte Ltd, SATS Ltd and Takashimaya Singapore Ltd.

This year’s slate of awardees also exemplifies the shared values of boldness and resilience as Singapore celebrates 60 years of nation-building.

Among them is the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the sole recipient of the Plaque of Commendation (Star) award. URA is lauded for its strong collaboration with the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority Workers’ Union (SURAWU).

With nearly 50 years of partnership with the union, the public institution has focused on improving employees' skills and career progression through an NTUC Company Training Committee, increasing salaries and benefits, and fostering a better work environment through progressive practices such as flexible work arrangements and age-inclusive policies.

The Plaque of Commendation (Star) is the highest honour bestowed on an organisation.
