Privacy Policy

This privacy policy sets out how NTUC collects, uses, discloses and protects any information that you give to NTUC when you use NTUC Digital Services, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 26 of 2012). This privacy policy should be read together with the Terms and Conditions for the use of NTUC Digital Services, which will prevail in the event of any conflict or discrepancy.

 

NTUC is committed to ensuring that your privacy is respected and protected, and that the personal information you provide is handled confidentially. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using NTUC Digital Services, you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy, our Terms and Conditions for the use of NTUC Digital Services and the prevailing laws in Singapore.

 

NTUC may update this privacy policy from time to time due to amendments to the law or changes to our internal processes. We therefore recommend that you re-visit this page regularly to learn of any updates in this policy.

This site does not capture personal information about visitors unless you choose to provide such information to us. We may request the following information:
  • Personal information including name, identification number, job details
  • Contact information including email address, contact number
  • Demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • Other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers and promotions

We require this information to understand your needs and to provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
  • Internal record keeping
  • To improve our products and services
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers, upcoming events or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided, if you inform us that you wish to receive such promotional materials when using NTUC Digital Services.
  • We may use the information to provide you with details of our upcoming events or promotions. To preserve your privacy, you will be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving details of these upcoming events or promotions.
  • From time to time, we may use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail.

We will not share your personal information with other entities, except where such entities have been authorised to carry out specific services. We use the personal information you give us as a research tool to develop the content of NTUC Digital Services. If you provide us with feedback using our feedback form, you will be asked for your name, e-mail address and information, which will enable us to contact you. We will use that information to respond to your feedback.

A cookie is a small file which may be saved on your mobile or other internet-compatible devices, for example smartphones and tablets when you use NTUC Digital Services. Our use of cookies is to make your experience better by improving user interaction and will help recognise you when you use NTUC Digital Services.

We will also use cookies to analyse data on webpage traffic in order to improve NTUC Digital Services by tailoring it to customers’ needs. We will use this information only for statistical analysis purposes, after which, the data is removed from our system.

Cookies do not give us access to your mobile or computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:
  • whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, look for the box that you can click to indicate that you do not want the information to be used by anybody for direct marketing purposes
  • if you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by writing to us through the Contact Us section of the NTUC Digital Services.

 

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties (i.e. parties not related to NTUC) unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

 

We rely on you to ensure that the personal information you provide is current, complete and accurate. If there are changes to the personal information you have provided or if you believe that any information we have of you is incorrect or incomplete, please update your information on www.ntuc.org.sg.

 

We will promptly update our records to ensure the accuracy of your personal information. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

 

Should you wish to:

  1. request access to a copy of the personal information we have about you or information on the ways in which we use or disclose your personal information; or
  2. withdraw your consent to our use of the personal information you have provided during the use of NTUC Digital Services, you may submit your request in writing or email at dpo@ntuc.org.sg. Please note that you may be required to bear the cost of an administrative fee for us to process your request.

 

We will respond to your request within thirty (30) business days. If we are unable to do so within thirty (30) business days after receiving your request, we will inform you in writing of the time by which we will be able to respond to your request. If we are unable to process your request, we will inform you of the reasons why we are unable to do so (except where we are not required to do so under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 26 of 2012).

 

We are committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access, collection, misuse, disclosure, copying, alteration, or loss of information, we have put in place reasonable physical, electronic, technical and administrative measures and procedures to safeguard and ensure the security of the information we collect from you. Access to personally identifiable information is provided only to authorised administrators by means of a restricted password. You should be advised however, that no method of transmission over internet or mobile apps, or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We will nevertheless strive to protect the security of your information by constantly reviewing and enhancing our information security measures.

We may retain the personal information you provide when using NTUC Digital Services for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws. We will cease to retain your personal information or remove the means by which the information can be associated with you, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the personal information was collected, and it is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.

NTUC Digital Services may contain links to external sites operated by third parties, and whose data protection and privacy practices may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these external sites and encourage you to learn about the privacy policies of such third parties by consulting the privacy notices at these external sites.

This privacy policy and your use of NTUC Digital Services is governed in all respects by the laws of Singapore, in particular the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 26 of 2012) and its Regulations.
